Matamata College Fairtrade competition

Earlier this year we received and email from two Matamata College students asking if we could help them with a presentation they were going to give to their school on Fairtrade. They thought if they could provide some chocolate samples to their 900 classmates their presentation would have more of an impact. What's more, so as not to defeat the purpose of Fairtrade, they even offered to pay for them!

Now while we agreed a sample would give their presentation much more of an impact, unfortunately we didn't have 900 samples and there was no way we would have let them pay for it themselves.

What we did decide to do however was a bit of a competition. Up for grabs were a couple of prize hampers - containing chocolate, Tea and Coffee. The rules were pretty simple, enter an article/presentation/essay/photoboard or basically anything on Fairtrade and be in to win.

Congratulations to our two winners - Travis Scott and Alisha Stewart.

Travis entered this excellent poem, which we thought summed up Fairtrade and how everyone can make a difference through what they buy.

The thing that we liked about Alisha’s entry was that it was different and unique, while still being well presented and informative.

Well done to all the others who entered
